General Email Design Guidelines
(Individual email templates below.)
A. Header
The header contains the Autodesk logo at left and a type graphic at right, identifying the content, the offer and/or origination of the email. (By using a graphic set in Myriad Bold, vs. html text, as was the previous standard, we can control the exact look and consistency of this important headline from email to email.)
B. Left Sash or Sidebar
In some instances, the Left Sash (column under the logo) contains no imagery, text or navigation, to create a clean and clear visual communication. In other instances, a graphic image may appear in this space (per dimensions provided in templates), alone or within a Sidebar of Autodesk Blue or Gray, to highlight a product, offer, or consumer call-to-action.
C. Body
The primary content of the email message, Body content can be plain text (as shown), a table, an HTML form, etc. Images can be added to the Body content area, but only as needed to illustrate points in text (i.e. a premium specifically mentioned), and keeping well within the grid and tone of the email.
D. Footer
The links shown should always appear for legal copy and user options. Additional links to content/pages relating to the email message can be added at the end of these links, but (A) any such links should be utilitarian "netiquette" links, not marketing-driven, and (B) there should be 5 links maximum; the main Body copy are is more appropriate for important messaging and links.
E. Image Area
Supportive imagery is placed within the Image Area to illustrate the content of the email and create visual interest. (Generic imagery is provided in each file: "name_template.htm"; to create custom imagery please use file: "email_img_template.psd" provided.)
Note: Templates are available for download with sample images for local browsing. In order for images to be viewed in recipients e-mail, images must be stored on a publicly accessible web server, and image paths in the e-mail must be changed to reflect that server and file location.
email template width is 602 pixels to print on standard letter sized paper.
